Artisanal mining represents a crucial life income in many parts of the world, and many communities depend on it.

These communities and cooperatives should be supported and engagement is the first step.

Of course, this kind of supply chain needs a special Enhanced Due Diligence, starting from the list of documents to request (which depends also from country to country) and the crucial on site visit.

CRAFT: the Code of Risk-mitigation for ASM engaging in Formal Trade – CRAFT is intended to serve as an instrument for ASM and the downstream industry to validate its eligibility to sell and source minerals and metals originating from ASM in conformance.

CRAFT is:
  • a voluntary sustainability standard a progressive performance
  • standard for ASM mineral producers
  • a process standard. This means it is not a product standard.
